Game of Thrones: 5 things to know before the premiere

Recapping who’s alive, who’s dead, and who’s undead

Photo: HBO

The seventh season of HBO’s Game of Thrones is set to premiere this Sunday, July 16th. The show has been steadily building in popularity over the course of its run, with the season 6 finale breaking the show’s previous viewership records, and conversation about each new episode taking over social media and media sites. It’s been more than a year since the last episode aired, and given a cast of hundreds of players, and events crisscrossing a continents-spanning map, even the most dedicated fans may want a refresher course on where the story left off. So without further ado, here are the top five things to remember about season 6:

Spoilers ahead for season 6 of Game of Thrones.

1) Jon Snow survived a series of stabbings

Jon Snow was murdered at the end of season 5, and resurrected at the beginning of season 6 by the Red Woman, Melisandre. He reunited with Sansa Stark, who ran away from her abusive marriage to Ramsay Bolton and begged Jon to challenge the Boltons for control of Winterfell, where Jon and Sansa were raised as siblings. Jon was initially reluctant to declare war, but he successfully defeated the Boltons in a battle that took an enormous effort, and left Sansa’s brother Rickon dead and Jon beaten within an inch of his life. In recognition of his accomplishments, Jon was crowned King in the North. His status has been recognized by several formerly Stark-allied Northern families, the Wildlings he helped rescue from north of the Wall, the men of the Night’s Watch, and Lyanna Mormont, the little-girl general from Bear Island with only 62 soldiers.

2) Most of the main characters in King’s Landing were burned with wildfire

Cersei Lannister mass-murdered most of King’s Landing by burning everyone with wildfire, including fan-fave Margaery Tyrell, most of her kin, a couple of Lannisters, and also the annoying High Sparrow. This backfired on her when her youngest son, Tommen, committed suicide upon finding out his wife Margery was dead. RIP our gentlest king and Cersei’s last living child. Now Cersei is childless and an orphan, and when we last saw her, she claimed the Iron Throne. We can only anticipate more acts of violence from her in the future.

Thankfully, Olenna, Margaery’s grandmother, is safely in Dorne, plotting away with Varys (representing Daenerys’ interests) and Ellaria (representing the Martells) against the Lannisters, which brings us to our next point...

3) Daenerys set saifor the Iron Throne

Daenerys Targaryen has finally sailed for Westeros, with her three dragons and Tyrion Lannister in tow, as the new Hand of the Queen. Daenerys has also secured an alliance with Ironborn Yara Greyjoy, who is determined to reclaim the Iron Islands from her uncle, who seized them after he murdered her father. After seasons upon seasons of Daenerys ruling lands in the East and not making any headway in her attempt to reclaim the Iron Throne, which was once ruled by her father, the “Mad King,” she finally boards a westward ship in the season 6 finale! About time.

4) Stark sibling savagery

After seasons of assassin training and being forced to renounce her identity, Arya Stark finally overcame the House of Black and White and traveled back to Westeros. In one of season 6’s greatest moments, Arya killed Walder Frey after serving him a pie baked out of his sons’ dismembered parts, eliminating them from her long revenge list. Also on that list: Cersei Lannister. In another great revenge scene, Sansa Stark let Ramsay Bolton’s dogs eat him alive, getting vengeance for her abusive marriage and Rickon’s murder.

5) Bran is the next Three-Eyed Raven

Season 6 featured a lot of screwups on Bran’s part, including accidentally giving Hodor brain damage and a permanently limited vocabulary while making Hodor’s life’s goal to hold the door against an army of wights. Also, Bran maybe had a hand in making the Mad King go mad. But his unfortunate failures have only earned him more magical powers and responsibility. At the end of season 6, he assumed his magical seer role as the next Three-Eyed Raven, replacing the old man fused inside a tree who held the title previously, and returning to his visions of the past.

Bonus things to remember:

The status of Benjen Stark has beenrevealed

Benjen went missing in the beginning of season 1, and numerous characters have referenced him throughout the show. At one point, he was used to lure Jon Snow to his temporary death. At the end of season 6, Benjen saved Bran Stark and his companion Meera, then explained that the White Walkers left him for dead. But the Children of the Forest saved him from turning into a wight by jamming a piece of dragonglass into his heart. He is officially undead, so he can’t leave the north.

Sam went to college

Samwell Tarly has reached a massive library in Oldtown, where he can now do more research. This is one of those plotlines that haven’t paid off yet, but it could lead to discoveries and more exploration into the White Walkers.

Jon Snow’s origins were finally explained

Confirming fan theories, as the Three-Eyed Raven, Bran witnessed a vision of Lyanna Stark holding a newborn son, fathered by Lyanna’s captor, Rhaegar Targaryen. Lyanna entrusted the boy to Ned Stark, who raised him as his own, and who we now realize is Jon Snow. The R+L=J theory is canon, meaning Jon is Daenerys’ nephew. That might mean the two of them don’t get the happy romantic ending fans have suggested was going to be the final happy ending toGame of Thrones. Season 7 will probably clarify the situation between them, as they either embrace their family connections; murder each other, destroying everyone’s hopes and dreams; or weirdly but still possible, get married as a strategic alliance of their armies. Guess which one of those endings sounds more like Game of Thrones?

When Rolls Royce collected garbage and swept streets of India.(Management Lesson : Never judge book by its cover)

Are we educated enough to predict the prospects ? Can we really certain who would be our potential customers ? Well the answer I would say is a big "NO". With the technologies invading our intellectual space its still a big challenge to answer this question. Since 1920's and till date we keep making mistakes to judge the book by its cover.

In 1920 King Jai Singh visited London and was walking without his royal appearance in Bond Street. The king saw a Rolls Royce showroom in the bond street and decided to enquire about the Rolls Royce car.

The showroom salesman judging him by his casual appearance insulted King Jai Singh thinking he is any ordinary man showing interest in the high end cars. King was shown the door by the discriminating salesman.

After this insult, King Jai Singh returned to his Hotel room and asked his servants to call the showroom that tell them that King of Alwar city wants to purchase some Rolls Royce cars.

The red carpet was rolled out in the showroom and the all the salesmen in the showroom were lined up to honour the king’s visit. After a couple of hours the king visited the showroom with his royal manner and appearance. The king decided to purchase all the six cars which were present at that time and he paid in full including the delivery costs.

After all six Rolls Royce car reached India, the king ordered the Municipality to use all these six cars for the purpose of sweeping streets and collecting the garbage in the city. Then world number one car manufacturer Rolls Royce was baffled when the news of Indian king using their car as garbage van spread the world in matter of no time. Hence the reputation of Rolls Royce dropped rapidly all over the world and so did the revenue.

Finally, they sent a telegram to the Indian King Jai Singh apologising for their behaviour whilst he visited the showroom in London and also they offered him six more Rolls Royce for free of cost. The king accepted their apologies and stopped using the cars for garbage collection.

We still make mistakes in channelising our resources towards one segment and sometimes ignore the under dogs. Why not to have Eagle eyes ? By the way an eagle can scan the earth from a height of 10-15,000 feet looking for prey. And when they spot one, these birds can dive at over 100 mph and still keep their target in complete focus. So choose the prospect wisely and pounce with all the resources.

Golden State Warriors Beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 129-120 to Win the NBA Title

(OAKLAND, Calif.) — Kevin Durant capped his spectacular first season with the Warriors by bringing home that coveted NBA championship he joined Golden State last July so determined to get, scoring 39 points in a fast-and-furious, Finals-clinching 129-120 victory over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.

Stephen Curry added 34 points, 10 assists and six rebounds as Golden State closed out its second title in three years after squandering a 3-1 lead a year ago to the Cavs to miss a repeat. That stung ever since, and even Durant understood, because he gave up the same lead to the Warriors a round earlier with Oklahoma City.

"We learned from everything we've been through," Curry said during the trophy celebration. "Our perspective, being blessed to play on this stage three years in a row, it's for these fans, for our organization, for these families. To be back here, bring ol' Larry back home, I'm just excited to do something special. I'm ready to do it again."

James, who in 2012 with Miami beat the Thunder in Durant's only other Finals, wound up with 41 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Kyrie Irving followed up his 40-point gem in Friday's Game 4 with 26 points but shot 9 for 22.

This time, King James gave way to KD, who was the NBA Finals MVP 10 years after being picked second in the NBA draft behind Greg Oden.

"It's just a great group of guys, great community, great arena, great fans," Durant said. "I'm just so happy to be a part of it. I can't wait to celebrate with my teammates in the locker room."

Durant drove left, right and down the middle, knocked down 3-pointers, dished and dunked. He knocked down a 17-foot fadeaway over James early in the fourth quarter, then assisted on a 3-pointer by Andre Iguodala the next time down as the Warriors pulled away.

Iguodala, the 2015 Finals MVP, came up big again with his 2017 postseason-best 20 points off the bench and stingy defense on James in a testy, tightly called finale to this trilogy Finals that everyone had stamped on the calendar from the moment Durant departed Oklahoma City to join Curry and Co.

The Warriors won in 2015 before the Cavs made their historic comeback last year. Then it was Golden State's time again, with Durant as the prized addition.

Durant shot 14 for 20 and Curry — the two-time reigning MVP who took a backseat as the new big star got acclimated — finished off a brilliant postseason. Not to mention a healthy one after his 2016 injuries.

Draymond Green stayed on the court in a game that featured three technicals on one play 3:08 before halftime. David West fought for the ball with Irving, then they got tangled up and Tristan Thompson entered the fray and he and West went at each other face-to-face. West, Thompson and J.R. Smith received techs after a replay review.

Green had sat out this very game a year ago, suspended because of flagrant foul point accumulation after he swiped at James' groin in Game 4. He had 10 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the clincher.

With a much-improved bench led by Iguodala, JaVale McGee, Shaun Livingston and West, that "Strength In Numbers" slogan that has become such a staple the past two seasons shined all season long, from Durant's 19-game absence late in the regular season with a left knee injury to assistant coach Mike Brown stepping in for 11 postseason games to lead the way while Steve Kerr was ailing.

On Monday, Golden State used a 27-4 second-quarter run to take charge — just after it appeared Durant should have been called for a third foul on a basket by James — and got to celebrate right at home in Oakland surrounded by a deafening home crowd waving yellow rally towels and holding up phones to shoot video and photos as the final minute of the clock ticked away.

The buzzer sounded and gold confetti began to fall.

The Warriors became the first Bay Area team to capture a championship at home since the A's finished the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the 1974 World Series.

A year ago, these Warriors fell short after a record-setting season that included a 24-0 start and 73 victories at the end to break the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls' wins.

Former pepper hawker earns PhD in Biomedical Engineering

A young Nigerian lady, Adeola Olubamiji, whose story is that of the proverbial grass-to-grace has not only done herself proud by earning a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, her story is an encouragement that where there is a will, there is a way.

Read her moving tribute on her graduation day:

“As the fifth child of five, I always had to wait for my turn. I was the last, a girl child and raised by a mother who is a farmer and a father who has little.

“I hawked pepper on the streets of Ibadan as early as age 10 to help my mum. Went to public primary and secondary schools in Ibadan. Attended OOU and studied Physics.

“Because I had a 2.1, it opened the door for me to proceed to Finland for a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering. During this Master’s degree, I worked part-time as a cleaner and did this after my Master’s as well.

“Out of determination, I applied to over 100 schools for my PhD and finally got a full three-year scholarship (later extended to four years) at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Engineering.

“While in that PhD programme, I worked part-time as a makeup artist, teaching assistant, braided hair and fixed weaves to make extra money.

“Today, I walked the stage as the first black person to bag a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada!

“I walked this stage for you Mama Africa and for my Motherland Nigeria! I walked the stage for all of you Black women disrespected and looked down on!

“I walked for all of you from my ghetto hood, Mokola, Ibadan. I walked for all OSU students and ex-students that got that look from people who think we are not brilliant!

“I walked for all of you Africans in Finland wondering what is next for you!!

“Specially, I walked for you my parents, siblings and extended family in fulfilment of your dreams!

“Specially, I walked the stage for you my late sister Omoleye Olubamiji; and my late mentor Ayodele Olatunbosun.

“Today, I walked for my future husband and my unborn children who patiently waited for me to fulfil my dreams so that he can have a wife he will be proud of and they can have a role model to look up to.

“I walked for all immigrants and all young adults who strived everyday chasing their dreams!

“I walked in celebration of the unfailing love of my first and one truly true love, Jesus Christ, (in you I walk, in you I live, and in you I have had and will continue to have my being)!

“Be bold, be innovative, be different, be you, be everything you want to be; but remember to put God first!

“Let no man, upbringing, money, circumstance, colourism, past mistakes, institution, company, partner, background, let nothing tell you ‘you can’t do it.’

“Go smart! Go hard!! Go for Gold!!! Go with God!!! Just Get Going!!!!! #Grad2017 #PhDConvocation #UofS”

Editor’s Note: This post has been edited.  Adeola Olubamiji is the first black to obtain a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada

The NBA Finals are over, and the Golden State Warriors are your champions

In the indelible words of the late Dennis Green, "crown their [expletive]."

The Golden State Warriors broke a city's collective heart on Wednesday night, holding off the Cleveland Cavaliers for a Game 3 win and effectively ending the 2017 NBA Finals.

Kevin Durant was the man who slayed Cleveland, draining a dagger 3-pointer with less than a minute left, just when it looked like the Cavaliers had figured out how to topple the Warriors. KD finished with 31 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and his very first Larry O'Brien trophy to go along with NBA Finals MVP.

OK, you're right. Durant won't get his hands on the hardware until the Dubs actually finish off this series — which will come Friday, when Golden State wins Game 4 to sweep the Cavaliers.

Ken Blaze Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

I know what you're thinking. After last year's 3-1 comeback, why would anyone dare write off LeBron James & Co. before the Cavs lose four games in the Finals?

Sorry, friends, but that's wishful thinking. This year is nothing like 2016 — nothing.

Start with the obvious: the 73-win Warriors didn't have that Kevin Durant guy. Adding a former MVP who's roughly 80 feet tall and made of thermonuclear devastation sort of changes the equation from one year to the next, especially since Golden State resolved any potential "alpha dog" conflict between Durant and Stephen Curry within the first three months of the season.

There was no feeling out period like LeBron had with Dwyane Wade in Miami, because Durant and Curry are perfect complements to one another. That's what makes them so devastating — and why they'll complete the job at hand on Friday.

David Richard David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

This one is over. You know it. I know it. LeBron knows it. The Cavs know it.

So mark it down: the Dubs, who are six-point favorites for Game 4 according to OddsShark.com, will celebrate a championship in Cleveland on Friday.

Robert Greene Quotes & Top 10 Rules For Success

 Fearless Motivation
Robert Greene is a well-known American author and public speaker, best known for his books The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction, The 33 Strategies of War, The 50th Law and MasteryHis books have brought him international acclaim in the personal development arena. Here are 5 Robert Greene Quotes & Top 10 Rules For Success

5 of the best Robert Greene Quotes & Top 10 Rules For Success.

5 of the best Robert Greene Quotes.

2- “Never waste valuable time, or mental peace of mind, on the affairs of others—that is too high a price to pay.” Robert Greene Quotes

5- “The time that leads to mastery is dependent on the intensity of our focus.” Robert Greene Quotes

Robert Greene’s Top 10 Rules For Success.

1- Do what you really love.

Doing what you love is key to being successful in business, and in life. Follow your passion; focus on creating a life that includes those passions, and you cannot go wrong.

2- Think like an outsider.

If you follow the pack, you can’t possibly deliver anything new to the table. Thinking like an outsider means being creative, keeping an open perspective and remaining detached from the challenges you face in order to solve problems easier and more effectively.

3- Be curious.

Allow yourself to explore life. Don’t restrict your experience by sticking to what you know. Explore new places, speak to new people and try new things, you never know what you may learn or who you may meet.

4- Shut out the distractions.

Distractions destroy productivity. Almost every minute of every single day, we are being distracted by something. It could be our phones, the Internet or even advertising. If you are to become wildly successful at what you do, you need to be able to focus your mind on achieving one thing at a time.

5- Use active imagination.

Use your mind to generate possibility. If you limit your thinking to what you already know or understand, then you limit your creativity. Instead, allow yourself to tap into your imagination consciously to achieve practical solutions.

6- Become self-reliant.

You have to learn to take care of yourself in life. This skill is one of the most powerful things you can master on the journey to success. Once you become self reliant, you know you have the resources within you to get yourself out of any negative situation you may end up in.

7- Be patient with fools.

When you are striving for a better life, there will always be people who come up against you. They may be fools, but this does not mean you need to isolate yourself. Instead you can choose to learn from them, and perhaps understand who you are a little better.

8- Embrace the chaos.

Humans love to control things; it’s in our nature do so. But the thing is, life is random. There is no way to predict what will happen next. And if you spend your life clinging to certainty, you will only cause yourself suffering. Let go of needing to have all the answers, and embrace the unknown.

9- Transform yourself through your work.

Through your work, you have an opportunity to change yourself in a positive and lasting way. Our work does not have to be boring or banal. When we set about performing meaningful duties, we give ourselves purpose, and we become open and receptive to growth.

10- Be emotionally engaged.

Success does not come by accident. It is not a result of circumstances or luck. Success comes from motivation. If you are motivated and engaged with what you are doing, you learn faster, and you work harder. Don’t make excuses for why you aren’t where you want to be. Instead, choose to be motivated and inspired, and you WILL find the success you desire.

What is the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development?

At the Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September, 2015, UN Member States adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030.
The SDGs, otherwise known as the Global Goals, build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), eight anti-poverty targets that the world committed to achieving by 2015. The MDGs, adopted in 2000, aimed at an array of issues that included slashing poverty, hunger, disease, gender inequality, and access to water and sanitation. Enormous progress has been made on the MDGs, showing the value of a unifying agenda underpinned by goals and targets. Despite this success, the indignity of poverty has not been ended for all.
The new Global Goals, and the broader sustainablity agenda, go much further than the MDGs, addressing the root causes of poverty and the universal need for development that works for all people.
UNDP Administrator Helen Clark noted: "This agreement marks an important milestone in putting our world on an inclusive and sustainable course. If we all work together, we have a chance of meeting citizens’ aspirations for peace, prosperity, and wellbeing, and to preserve our planet."
The Global Goals will now finish the job of the MDGs, and ensure that no one is left behind.
What are the proposed Global Goals?
All 17 SDGs are connected to UNDP’s Strategic Plan focus areas: sustainable development, democratic governance and peacebuilding, and climate and disaster resilience. Goals Number 1 on poverty, Number 10 on inequality and Number 16 on governance are particularly central to UNDP’s current work and long-term plans.
Having an integrated approach to supporting progress across the multiple goals is crucial to achieving the SDGs, and UNDP is uniquely placed to support that process.
What is UNDP's role with the Global Goals?
UNDP can support, and is already supporting, countries in three different ways, through the MAPS approach: mainstreaming, acceleration and policy support.
This sees us:
Providing support to governments to reflect the new global agenda in national development plans and policies. This work is already underway in many countries at national request;Supporting countries to accelerate progress on SDG targets. In this, we will make use of our extensive experience over the past five years with the MDG Acceleration Framework; andMaking the UN’s policy expertise on sustainable development and governance available to governments at all stages of implementation.
Collectively, all partners can support communication of the new agenda, strengthening partnerships for implementation, and filling in the gaps in available data for monitoring and review. As Co-Chair of the UNDG Sustainable Development Working Group, UNDP will lead the preparation of Guidelines for National SDG Reports which are relevant and appropriate for the countries in which we work.
UNDP is deeply involved in all processes around the SDG roll out. The guidance and tools being developed will be shared as they become available. As well, we are bringing our extensive programming experience to bear in supporting countries to develop their national SDG efforts

The Flash Kept Its Promise But We Refuse to Accept What Just Happened

Well, The Flash just did the thing it's been promising it was going to do, and it hurts just as much as we thought it would.

Iris West (Candice Patton) appears to have died in the exact way the show has been telling us she was going to die since its winter finale, despite all of Barry's (Grant Gustin) attempts to save her.

Savitar still kidnapped her and then stabbed her straight through the back with his arm sword, and it was still just as devastating to watch as it has been the other 14 times the show has shown us this scene, made only worse by the fact that this time, Joe was there to watch it happen.

Photos

The CW

While we're very mad, it makes sense in the world of TV that tonight's episode ended with Iris' death, because she had just gone on a full "I'm about to die" tour over the past few Iris-centered episodes.

It was ultimately her who realized memory-free Barry wasn't good for Central City (despite how good it seemed to be for her and Barry) in last week's episode, and this week, she got to spend time singing and dancing with her dad. She even took a moment (while Barry went off searching for caviar in the middle of the night) to record the wedding vows she was sure she'd never get to say otherwise.

She could really be dead, but on the other hand, this is The Flash, and there's always a twist.

The CW

Simply the fact that there's another episode left in the season makes us think Iris is not actually dead, and that this fight against Savitar is not over. There's got to be something else going on, right, because we are not about to watch Barry turn into Emo Barry.

Will he go back in time to try some other thing he couldn't think of before? Will they use some secret meta technology to save Iris? Was that actually a fake Iris using HR's face changer, which was so helpfully brought back into use tonight as Barry turned into Lilah? If so, who did Savitar actually stab?

And if not, how will we continue on?

What are your theories?

Getting out of poverty and debt

Best ways of getting out of poverty

Great News! Getting out of poverty  is almost entirely in your control. If you weren't raised with principles that support the following behaviors, it will be challenging, yet still totally doable.

  1. Start by changing the way you think. Life on this planet is full of abundance. There is enough for everyone, including money. The best way for you, I think, is to think of something you can offer to others that you love doing. You are rewarded by being of service to other people. What do you know that's of value to others? Or, what can you do that's of service to others? Start there. There is always room for another service busines
  2. You have a gift: time. You are young, and you are not homeless because your parents are willing to keep you under their roof. Some people do not have that luxury, and are forced to continue working  dead-end jobs while expenses accumulate, never able to escape the poverty cycle.

Rather than taking out loans and spending time on formal education, spend some time exploring careers you think you wouldn't hate too much: conduct informational interviews with people in the profession, shadow willing victims, go to the library to check out different subjects, etc.

Don't worry so much about needing to LOVE something. As someone who has heavily switched career directions, I now think passion is over-rated. What is more important is finding a career that is engaging enough for you to stick to so your earnings can grow over time.
  3. Getting out of poverty means generating enough income to sustain yourself and your dependents.  To do this you will need time.  Learn to do something well enough that people will pay you good money for it.  Most of the time it costs money to make money, so you will probably need something to start with. If you have a good welcoming and trustworthy attitude, people will help you with what you need to start with.  A lemonade stand in the park is an inexpensive startup. So is babysitting.  Not saying that this is exactly what you should do, but you should choose something that is needed, but doesn't cost too much to start, and is not a lot of waste.  Over time you will be able to choose your working hours, clients/customers, pay rate, etc.  Also, take advantage of FREE stuff!  There are other ways poverty can be defeated, but for now, this is all I've got.
  4.  Take Responsibility: Cultivate the habit of self reflection. It is human nature to externalize blame. When you blame someone for your situation, you disempower yourself. Even if you think someone or something else is to blame, focussing on what you can do instead will lead to better results. Think about what you can change in your habits and behaviors and that will improve your chances of overcoming any obstacle.
  5.  Thrift and Saving. Spend as little money as possible until you have a 6 month safety net, or even better a year. Then only spend these savings for opportunities or for emergencies. Make saving a habit
  6. Don't have children until you are financially secure. This is a level of security far past having 6 months of income saved. This requires having developed marketable skills so that if you lose your job you have a plan for getting another one quickly. Kids are expensive and you need to have the income to more than make up for this additional expense.
  7.  Choose a job where there is the possibility of getting promoted if you stand out.
  8. Work Ethic: Work as if your main goal in life is to benefit your employer.

     a. Impeccable Punctuality: Everyday you are working before your start time, and leave after you are scheduled to finish.

   b. Initiative: You are always thinking of ways to improve the business.

   c. Commitment: You are constantly finding ways to make your bosses job easier and are always looking to take on more responsibility.

  d. Sense of Ownership: You take pride in your work, and the company you work for.

  e. Positive attitude: Cultivate an air of reasonable optimism - no complaining

The Flash finally unmasks Savitar.

The big reveal The Flash has been holding back all season finally arrives with only three episodes remaining. In an unmasking that “I Know Who You Are” treats as the most dramatic, mind-blowing twist imaginable, we learn that the evil speedster Savitar is actually...Barry Allen from the future. Or at least a Barry Allen from some future. (This one has what look like burn scars on his face instead of stringy emo hair.) The way this revelation is handled, it’s as if the creative team figured there was no possible way anyone would guess, when in fact future Barry has been the leading candidate for months (at least judging from the comments here and on Twitter). Audiences are more twist-savvy than ever before, and fans have puzzled out much tougher conundrums than this in recent years, so a lighter touch with the big unveiling might have been appropriate here. Instead it plays out as unjustified self-congratulation for dragging out the big mystery for much longer than necessary.

If “I Know Who You Are” had otherwise been a strong episode, maybe this wouldn’t matter so much. Alas, it’s an hour than leans into the show’s soapy side; by the time it was over, it felt like it had been 80 percent pep talks. One major subplot involves Joe’s love life and that eternal Team Flash tendency to hold onto secrets for too long. Admittedly, when the episode started with Joe and Cecile coming back from a long run, I briefly entertained the possibility that the show was hinting she was Savitar. No such luck. She lets an “I love you’ slip and Joe goes into a panic, because he knows taking the next step with her will entail coming clean about his role in Team Flash. Naturally he decides the only solution is to break up with her, at which point Killer Frost does him a favor by kidnapping Cecile and basically forcing Joe’s hand. The moment when Joe decides to remove his wedding band works because Jesse L. Martin can sell pretty much any big emotional moment, but this is all probably just building toward Cecile getting killed in Iris’ place, right?

More emotional angst surrounds Killer Frost. Danielle Panabaker is just about the only one having any fun in this episode, but you can sense the writers’ reluctance to go all the way with Caitlin’s transformation. If Killer Frost goes on a murderous rampage, that’s a bell that can’t really be unrung in terms of turning her back into Caitlin, member in good standing of Team Flash. (It might not be a problem on Arrow , granted.) Still, Frost delivers most of the hour’s most enjoyable moments, including her swooping, swirling ride through the streets of Central City on an ice-bridge of her creating. The angst comes from Julian and Cisco sniping over what to do about her. Julian notices that Cisco fails to pull the trigger on her several times when he has the opportunity to use his vibe powers. Cisco eventually confesses that he’s worried about killing her if he can’t control the vibe (and his powers are vaguely-defined enough where I can see that might be a problem). Julian gives Cisco one of the many, many pep talks this episode has to offer, and Cisco prevails in a battle of the blue beams with Killer Frost.

The primary quest this week is to track down Tracy Brand, the theoretical physicist responsible for figuring out how to imprison Savitar in the Speed Force. Since she doesn’t do that for another four years, the present-day Tracy is a grad student whose research has fallen on deaf ears. She’s also a target of Killer Frost, who has been sent after her by Savitar, who knows everything that’s going to happen for reasons that are now abundantly clear. HR takes it upon himself to serve as her caretaker and pep-talker (he delivers the 47th version of the “believe in yourself” speech we’ve heard this season), developing a crush on her in the process. She figures out that Savitar is wearing “strange metal” to neutralize the electric charge from his lightning, and that it can be used against him to trap him in the Speed Force.
That only leaves the reveal of Savitar’s true identity, which comes when Joe’s “what would become of us without love?” musings lead present-day Barry to surmise that his arch-nemesis is a future Barry deprived of love. (There’s also the matter of remembering when Savitar said “I am the future, Flash” and realizing there wasn’t a comma in there after all.) But...if Savitar kills Iris, than isn’t he the one who deprives himself of that love? Or does killing her prevent an even worse outcome further in the future? Here’s hoping the answers turn out to be more satisfying than the long-delayed unmasking.

Stray observations

Wally spent the episode on Earth-3, because when you know your sister is due to be killed in a few weeks, it’s time for a booty call on a parallel world!
“All’s Wells That Ends Wells” is not a great title for a self-help book, HR.

Is Tracy seeing HR’s real face? Is he still wearing his fake face out in public, such as when having coffee at Jitter’s? Or is this something the writers are just hoping we’ve forgotten about?

Kendrick Lamar’s Mom Texted Him An Album Review That Only A Mother Could

Kendrick Lamar headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival this year.

Kendrick Lamar’s biggest fan could not keep it together after listening to K. Dot’s latest album, “DAMN.”

On Saturday, Lamar posted an album review that only a mother could write to his Instagram account. In an emoji-riddled text message, his mother, Paula Oliver, made it clear that she was in awe of her son’s latest work.

“OMG. This cd is bombbbbb! ðŸ˜© 😩 😩,” his mom’s praise begins. “You should of put me and your daddy on this one too ðŸ˜œ ðŸ˜œ  j/k.”

(In Lamar’s “Good Kid, m.A.A.d City,” a duo posing as his parents make a comical appearance toward the end of “Money Trees.”)

”This your best one to me, no bullshit ðŸ’¯,” she continued. The text also relays that his mom isn’t the only fan of the album. Someone else whom Oliver refers to as “lil ken ken” is said to have been milly rocking to “DAMN.”

Lamar’s studio work isn’t the only reason the rapper has been making rounds in the news. As one of this year’s Coachella headliners, he wowed fans as he closed last weekend’s performances with a midair rendition of “Money Trees.”

While mama Oliver wasn’t able to watch the performance, she said she heard about the set from Lamar’s fans, whom she refers to as “diehards.”

The “Humble” rapper acknowledged his mother’s acclaim with the praying hands emoji. But he seemed to be most intrigued by Oliver’s own use of emojis.

“You going emoji brazy. Who taught you ‘💯 ’? Lol,” he responded.

Who knows, K. Dot. They’re getting so advanced these days.
